My fiance and I booked flights with United Airlines to attend my family reunion. Two days before leaving, my wife’s father developed pneumonia and was placed on hospice care with my fiance as his primary caregiver. She did not travel with me. We have filed refund request with United to no avail. We have provided United with copies of the hospital release documents, the hospice car documents and my fiance’s father’s death certificate. United will not contact us by phone or email and has basically ignored us for almost two years. This ticket was around $700 and we deserve a refund.

Any accomodation would go a long way to cement a positive experience; but I suppose UA needs every $ today and cares little about future business.

Most airline miles card have a high nnaual fee.The best card might be the Starwood AMEX card. No fee the first year, and only $ 30/yr thereafter. You can sign up with a free Starwood account online. Then, for every 20,000 Starwood points you earn, you can transfer to most major airline programs and earn an extra . So your 20,000 points will become 25,000 miles. This is better than most airline cards, which is 1 mile per dollar.

Airlines haven't cared about their customers for a long time now--- profits are much more important. Sadly, most of them are the same so they all get away with this.

Why do we keep bailing these guys out? Let them go bankrupt and get bought by a real company.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone! breast actives http://breastactivesdigest.com/
