OnSale Screwed Me Out of My TouchPad

Almost 4 days and not a word on my Touchpad. I have never ever experienced customer service this horrible. Heck, 2 year olds could do better.

Theres no excuse regardless, we ordered a product, and because of that we missed out on other retailers offering it. Onsale needs to bite a bullet here, no communication for 2-3 days is unacceptable!

Could have gotten one with another resaler - but no, OnSale destroyed that chance too and kept my money for almost three days.

60 hours since order. Still No word one way or the other, and the money is still charged!

Me & My girlfriend both ordered from OnSale this weekend and still no kind of answer from them regarding my touchpad status. Phones always say to try again later, sent emails and messages and no response. On top of it all my card has already been charged $1000 for the 10 touchpads. I'm extremely upset!

I ordered one 16gb and another 32gb. but no information from onsale.com. actually even after my placed the orders, i wait few hours the sale end. So if onsale(amazon) don't have enough items, why don't end earlier? THEY CHEAT on us!!

Worst online buying experience ever.

I order this HP touch pad on Sunday morning August 21, 2011 and my order status indicates pending and the amount is also showing pending on my credit card. It is now August 24, 2011 I have tried to contact OnSale at 1-888-760-0300 but all I get is a busy signal. My credit card still show pending and the money has been subtracted from my available credit balance as of today August 24, 2011 at 9:48 am CST my order shows “shipping soon”.

I will make sure I voice my opinion of your company on every consumer report site that I visit. Worst company ever!

Neither OnSale nor Amazon has informed me in anyway whether my order went through or not.

At first I could understand why they were having problems. Many people ordered Touchpads from OnSale within a short period of time. However, there is no excuse as to why OnSale did not notify and refund people within a reasonable amount of time. I could have gotten a Touchpad elsewhere, but I guess I put too much faith in OnSale doing a good job.

I think people should at least demand interest for money OnSale held on to without notifying anyone of what was going on. It wouldn't be much but it would certainly be fair. A lot of people missed out on their chances to buy a Touchpad thanks to OnSale's incompetence.The least they could have done was cancel orders in a timely matter instead of leaving people waiting and wondering.

I think Onsale or Amazon should eat the cost and still sell us the Touchpad as promised at $99 or $149 as promised. Risk is a part of the business, sometime you lose money because of several reasons. Thought I had successfuly ordered my HP TouchPad only to have it canceled on the day it was supposed to be shipped out. I received no communication from onSale.com about their stocking issues or problems they have had with their system. Once I made my purchase I no longer tried to search for another retailer who might be selling said item. Had an order, money left my account, yet OnSale cancelled it 4 days later. No customer service was helping and they were just awful.

I donno if we can legally take any action. But if I am not wrong, any transaction is a legally binding contract if it involves, buyer, seller, agreement and monetary compensation.
In this case OnSale (Seller), us (Buyer), confirmation email that the order will be shipped soon (Agreement) & credit card charge (Monetary exchange). So legally they are required to provide us the item at the agreed to price.
If they have to buy the item at the current price and then sell it to at $99 (or $149) so be it. This is the risk you take when you do business.
I would really like to pursue this further.

The worst part is they decided to ship all the overnight and 2 day shipping orders first, regardless of when they came in. Almost no one with standard shipping got their units, even people like myself that ordered within the first few minutes. (Confirmation email was at 5:06PM) users that placed 2 day shipping orders at 5:40 still got theirs. I think the internet is going to be a better place when OnSale is gone.

Everyone, make sure to file your complaint with Amazon as well. It is important that they are no longer able to scam people using Amazon's good name.

OnSale should provide us with the tablets we were "guaranteed" by ordering through Amazon or should offer to rebate the difference on a purchase through amazon so we still all get the units that we ALREADY PAID FOR.

I placed my order, and saw a estimated delivery date for 8/24/11 - 8/30/11. With that in mind i didn't hop on other deals that showed up, and after 4 days, they cancelled my order and left me with nothing. If you have told me earlier, i would have ordered from other site.

If you're going to make a statement to your customers about their shipments, don't lie. If you're going to be canceling orders, don't wait 3 days after the order was placed to notify your customers. Don't say that orders are being filled "first-come, first-serve" when a simple Google search can show you that that isn't true in the slightest. I'm sure they offer cheap Business Ethics classes at your local community college. Invest in them.

Onsale is the worst online shopping experience I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Don't expect too much out of this reseller. My order change drastrically from Shipping Soon to Canceled status. I have tried to call them and got a voicemail with no return call. I finally received a email DAY 4 canceled the order because the item (HP TouchPad) purchased were out of stock. I missed a gold opportunity to bought the item in another place. I certainly will not do business with them again and highly discourage you from dealing with them.

When buyers place orders on Amazon.com, they have confidence that the orders will be fulfilled. It is important to make sure you are only offering items you are able to fulfill on time.

I lost many other opportunities to get a product that is now sold out because I was misled to believe I had an order through onSale. Horrible business practice and absolutely the WORST customer service.

How are they really going to ship out touchpads to those that wanted faster shipping instead of a first come, first serve ? That makes no sense at all.

I bought 7, 32gb touchpads in 4 different orders at 4:00pm on Sunday the 21st cst, and all 4 orders were cancelled about 2:00pm cst on Wed. I know several other people whose shipped and they bought after me because I told them about the sale. How the fuck does that happen? I ordered through amazon BTW. Fuck ONSALE and the horse they rode in on. I will never buy anything from them again... Pieces of fuckin shit... They better give my money back in a timely manner or I will file a report with the attorney generals office... Fuck them!

My order was cancelled today, 3 and a half days after it was placed with absolutely no word on what was going on. Absolutely terrible.

This is no way to run a business. I placed three orders with Amazon and did not buy from anywhere else, then three days later they got cancelled AFTER i bought accessories now I cannot use and have to return at a financial loss.

I ordered this on Sunday afternoon and it has been stuck on "Shipping soon" since then. I have no way to cancel or to find out if my order will be shipped.

For whatever reason onSale did this, it can rest assured that it will not go without punishment. With enough negative feedback, I'm sure they will think twice before doing something like this again... I hope.

Possibly the worst customer service I've ever seen. Tons of companies oversold (it happens), none have dealt with it so incredibly poorly as onSale.

I ordered my Touch Pad at 5:30pm and people that ordered later than me got their Touch Pad but I didn't. They held my cash hostage for 4 days and not a whisper of wether I was going to get one or not. This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with ever. They didn't answer emails and their phone system just dumped your call. Stay away from this retailer.

Why would OnSale accept orders after they didn't have any in stock? Then they keep everyone waiting for three days, raising hopes, and then just out of nowhere start cancelling orders? Not only this but they lie by stating it's a first come, first serve basis, when it is actually a pay more for shipping, get it before others. They lied about having it in stock, lied about who's getting it, and then lied by not changing the status of shipping and leaving it "shipping soon."

Got an order conf. as soon placed order (5:13 Eastern), no update for 3 days and today got a cancel order email.

Ordered a 16gb touchpad on April 21st at 5:25pm and received an email from amazon that everything was fine. There were no updates since then, and today august 24th i received an email stating that my order has been canceled. I tried to contact onSale by email and phone and no response at all. I heard that people with expedited(overnight) shipping received priority even though they ordered much later than those who used standard shipping. Will never order from onSale ever again.

I bought my textbooks this semester in lieu of hardback because of my order. At the time of purchase, had I known it was out of stock I had other avenues in which to purchase my touchpad.

Basically missed opportunities to buy elsewhere due to lack of communication. Not only do I have to deal with this horrid business, I have to deal with retailers on trying to get a refund on my text books as well (because now I need hardback copies).

My order said "shipping soon" for the last 2 days (I ordered on the 21st). Today I get the cancellation email because they were really out of stock even though they said in stock when I ordered. I still have been charged the 160.XX for tax shipping and the touchpad. Amazon was no help- said could take upto 10 days to get a refund even though it was onsale that cancelled the order. So now even if they had some somewhere else I have to wait on a refund to try and buy it elsewhere. Onsale and Amazon can both suck my balls.

On Sale stole our money! If they didnt had any on stock HP Touchpad they should put more on sale that night! I bought mine at 4pm central and still by 7 pm central they still where selling the Touchpad. Thats selling a product you dont have!

On August 21, 2011 this company made available a link to a discounted HP Touchpad tablet PC. Even though they only had 10,000 units in stock, they allowed 100,000 orders to be processed. Once processed, authorization holds were placed on the credit cards used to order. Even though it was immediately clear that they would be unable to fulfill all the orders, this company waited until 4 days later before cancelling the transactions. During the limbo time, there were only a handful of communications made through unofficial channels that contained conflicting and repeated vague information, with promises that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours, then 48 hours, then "shortly" when in reality it took 4 days. The company has also not responded to allegations made that they gave preference to those people who paid extra expedited shipping, rather than their stated "first come, first served" process, despite evidence provided. I would like an offer of appeasement or public apology for time wasted and a full, detailed explanation of what that led to such an outlandish circumstance and unprofessional lack of response.

(2) So situated as to be clearly visible to the buyer;

From all that I've seen above, this is a horrible business practice. Lack of communication, unfair favoritism (for those who ordered with expedited shipping), etc. This might be something worth bringing up to the Dept. of Consumer Affairs.

I ordered 2 HP 32GB Touchpads from Amazon on 08/22/2011 who placed the order through OnSale. My credit card was charged $308.23. Amazon emailed me on 08/24/2011 that my order had been cancelled because the items were out of stock. My credit card has not been refunded the amount charged! This is a fraudulent business practice by OnSale under the protection of Amazon Sales!

So you hold my money for 5 days, then cancel my order without warning on the day of estimated delivery claiming there is no more stock while selling them at a $200 markup. Brilliant.

As with the rest, no HP Touchpad. While OnSale was the supplier, Amazon's policies state that sellers MUST have STOCK on HAND for Products Listed. Clearly OnSale had inventory overstated, or the system would not have accepted so many orders. They 'gambled' with our funds, time, energy, etc. and lost - as HP could not send additional units.

I can accept a supplier running short on inventory. Mistakes happen. What is most unacceptable is the lack of respect for customers - no communication for days (3-4). Beyond unacceptable - unbelievable.

It took over 72 hours for me to find out it was cancelled. This is unacceptable.

I could have bought from several other places, but chose Amazon because I thought they were better than this. I don't think I'll be shopping with Amazon nor OnSale (subsidy of PCMall) ever again.

I know for a fact orders placed after mine were fulfilled, and mine was cancelled, as I told some friends about it after I had placed my order & they're getting theirs. I wrote a polite, respectful review on Amazon on how when airlines oversell, they immediately offer vouchers to volunteers and how inventory can be counted to not waste anyone's time and how they could have offered discounted kindles or free shipping to volunteers. OnSale cancelled my order 4 days after they charged my CC. Never ordering from them again!

The main issue was I have is that OnSale KNEW that they couldn't handle all of the orders...and yet they did nothing for days making us all think that we had a shot of getting the TPs. Not having an inventory system in place is bad enough, but when you do nothing for days after the fact, and it takes you 3 days to send a standard form cancellation letter as if they did nothing wrong...pretty lame!!!

I had been a very long time happy Amazon customer, but not any more. I recently made this purchase and the vendor indicated the item was available, allowed me to place an order, requiring me to enter all of my details and taking all of my sensitive financial information. Not only was it a complete waste of my time, but they indicated that the order was completed and processed and lulled me into a false sense of security that I had made the purchase and deprived me of the opportunity of purchasing the item elsewhere, since I trusted and believed in Amazon, unlike many other on-line retailers, I assumed when it said the transaction was complete and due to be shipped on 23-August, I assumed it was a done deal. How could a supposedly reputable on-line retailer not only show availability, but process countless transactions even though, they supposedly no longer had inventory? This is one of the basics of on-line retail and to make matters worse, it took them 3 days to realize the error. I realize there was a very large customer demand, but that isn’t acceptable, unexpected customer demand causes a site to sell out or even crash, but it shouldn’t allow them to keep up a pretence and continue to show availability and accept orders, not to mention that they continued to collect sensitive financial information from customers. Also, the large customer demand shouldn’t have been unexpected, since onSale only started selling the HP Touchpad at the reduced price on Sunday, several days after the initial price reduction and after many documented cases in the media about the purchasing frenzy of the cut-price item. I wonder why a retailer would over-sell an item that isn’t available and I suspect the answer is – greed! Greed and incompetence is a dangerous combination.

I am very angry and upset that they gave me false expectations, stealing from me the opportunity to purchase the item elsewhere and taking my sensitive financial information at a time when their site was obviously not properly working. There are many remedies for onSale's inept web-site including accurate inventory control and load-testing and I hope they address these problems immediately, although I certainly will not use onSale again and as well I do not plan to return to Amazon as a customer either I unless I receive a proper apology and a commitment from Amazon that onSale will be thoroughly investigated and removed from Marketplace.

Oddly enough, Amazon replied that they will investigate onSale, but they indicated they will not release the outcome of the investigation. What? We the customers that have been mistreated deserve to know the outcome!!

This was a screw up of epic proportions. They sell me something they didn't have and it takes them 4 days to notify me! Amazon said; "While an occasional error is bound to happen, we do require sellers to keep these to a minimum. If we find a seller's order fulfillment become problematic, we will take appropriate action", this isn't an occasional error, just look at this list! Amazon also said "unfortunately, we are unable to cancel authorizations. Authorizations typically expire within 7-10 business days if the charge is not processed. If you need to remove the authorization before the normal expiration period set by your bank, please contact them directly. If the authorization has not been removed after the 10th business day, please write back to us."
So they hold my money for up to 10 days, actually 14 days including before it was cancelled and they blame it on my bank! Good bye Amazon!!

This was the first order for physical goods that I ever placed with Amazon. I had bought movies and books and music for years, but never anything that required shipping or trusting a seller to perform to contract. This has been a hellish living nightmare worthy of a Steven King novel. (onsale still won't return my money to my account, even though they finally notified me that my order had been cancelled---days after they posted shipping info on my account. OnSale and Amazon have to be held to account.

My experience with OnSale indicates the company is poorly managed. My reasons:
1 - OnSale charged my card for the sale of a product it did not have.
2 – The situation was immediately recognized by their management, yet 3 days past before receiving any type of notification.
3 – Once I did receive a notification, it simply stated “order canceled”.
4 – At NO POINT should a customer receive information via internet forums before directly from the business they interacted with.

While many are rightfully upset, most of us would feel differently if we believed the mistake were honest, and if there were adequate and timely communication.

Because they waited 3-4 days to cancel orders and communicate, and because they had touchpads available for a higher price shortly before and after canceling many of the orders....many people feel like there was bad faith on the part of onSale, and want the seek out a remedy from the courts.

The problem with OnSale is holding peoples money in limbo for 4 days now, that's what is unacceptable business practice, especially on e-commerce. If they over sold, then cancel the orders in one or two days and let the money go, so I could get the same product elsewhere like samclub, best buy......... Lots of retailers had the same problem but it didn't take days and days to get an answer on the status of an order. Most cancellations emails were sent out 1-2 days. And, amazon won't take action on these type of sellers' action. Onsale has put a hold on my credit card that has not been removed even though my order was canceled over 24 hours ago. They never once sent an email to me and claimed to sell a product they didn't even have.

Ordered on Sunday the 21st (Yay!), got the dreaded cancellation e-mail yesterday the 24th (Ugh!), my money is still locked up on my credit card (WTF!) I blame OnSale and Amazon both...first they deceived us by allowing all of us to buy something they never had enough inventory on (false advertising), then they hold our money still even though our purchases have been canceled. Release my money you thieving louts!

Like so many others I ordered one Touchpad from OnSale/Amazon. Got a confirmation and estimated delivery. Passed up other opportunities to purchase a Touchpad. As others have stated, no communication from onSale, overstated stock and cancelled orders in random order. They do not answer emails, kept my funds for over 4 days and they first email I got was from Amazon that the order had cancelled the day it was to arrive from being shipped.

It's not the running out of product. It's the poor communication, no compensation, lag time in acknowledging the problem...and that's before the alleged claims of filling out of order and satisfying your direct customers first a day later. We want explanations, compensation and our produt.

I could have purchased a Touchpad from 2 other sites, but i didn't even know that OnSale was canceling any orders at all for 2 days! And some people may not have heard at all (until the inevitable cancellation email) because their only form of communication was Facebook! Some people defend them because they were put in a hard position by the Touchpad clearance, but the inventory tracking was just awful. Thousands upon thousands canceled. Next time I'll order from a reseller that diesn't sell products that they no longer have.

Their Amazon resellers account has been HAMMERED. Kind of sad but when you make an EPIC FAILure, you deserve to reflect that on your statistics. Regardless, they have their loyal customers that would buy from them regardless so it's really not so sad at all. The only thing left to be sad is that I placed 4 orders. One for myself. One for my wife and my daughter that lives 800 miles away (so we could video conference). One for my mom and a final order for my dad. It was to be a 49th anniversary gift. Something that most people never see/make it to. So, if you'd like to make it right, onsale, please fulfill my order of 5 as I clearly had no intention of reselling like a total fool.

Unlike many people complaining, I placed my order for the HP Touchpad on SAT MORNING, only to be trumped by SUN buyers paying for faster shipping! How fair is that? Don't stand for this, if you ordered one from Amazon but are not happy, you have every right and responsibility to leave the proper FEEDBACK about your transaction. Simply go to Amazon, My Account and in the top box on the right is levae feedback.
