I just left my ipad on an American Flight flying into Austin, TX. I contacted American and they had me contact the baggage dept. for American at the Austin airport. They provided me with a phone number to leave a voicemail and email address. I was also told that you only get a response if they find it which I thought wasn't the best customer service. However, within a couple hours of filing the email and voicemail, I was contacted that they had found the IPAD. So, some airlines are actually honest enough to look for items left behind and take the time to get it back to their rightful owner. I would check with the baggage department for United at Ohare directly if you haven't already. There is hope that some IPADS are actually returned!

I too left my iPad on a United Airline flight from Denver to Dallas on 6/9/11. I gave them the seat number, filled out a report, etc. No word. I have the app to locate my iPad, however it is in airplane mode. My phone number is even inscribed on the iPad. Will never fly United again!

I had the same thing happen to me: I landed in Chicago on United. They requested we put all our electronics away during landing so I put it in the magazine pocket.Once landed I had a poster tube and my carry-on that I had to deal with and because of all that, I missed grabbing my iPad from the pocket. I realized it at the next gate. There was a big 'customer service' counter just around the corner from the gate and I reported my problem to them. They called the other gate (or acted like they did) and said the flight already left. They then told me to 'fill out a report' when I get to LONDON! Whaa? I immediately located the United lost baggage page on my iphone and filled out the online submission form there. When I finally got to Lisbon, I emailed them as well. They responded to my email three days later (not my online form - I used a different address). They said they would contact me only if the article was found and thanks for being patient, blah blah.I really have no hope of getting it back. Furthermore, I wonder if free gadgets and gear is a perk of working at United. Based on the verbiage from their email "due to the high volume of calls" I do not believe this company is interested in helping their customers even when it is a simple thing to figure out who the owner is. Way to go United - Friendly Skies my a$s.

I did the same thing except seat 2B from ORD to MCO. I drove to the airport twice and spoke with 6 different United employees. One flat out said that I could fill out a report if I wanted, but they never bother looking for things. I wrote to the company and got a canned response. The worst is that I later found out that the plane went directly to the maintenance hanger after my flight and was still there when I first drove to the airport to try to find it. If one of the United employees I spoke with had made any effort to look for the plane, I could have had it back. Similarly, I flew 100K miles with United this year. I am now flying Delta.

I bought brand-new ipad2 and put it to my carry on. Travel from ric VA to IAD to LAX and shanghai. At gate to lax, we were asked to check in all our carry ons. When we got to Shanghai, the iPad was gone. Everything else is still there. So we reported at shanghai, Nd then filed the claim. Never heard Anything else . Called several times, no one can find out what the status is, sent many emails, no luck there . We lost the iPad. Our travel date was 9/27/2011. This ruined our trip for sure
