The HTC Vivid comes with it’s bootloader locked and no method to unlock it using HTC’s htcdev.com website.
This is contrary to public statements by the HTC CEO that all future bootloaders would be unlocked.
The HTC Raider, which is identical to the Vivid but sold outside of the USA has an unlocked bootloader, as does the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket on AT&T.
HTC has implied that it is AT&T that is not allowing the Vivid bootloader to be unlocked, but that seems rediculous based on the Skyrocket’s status.
We ask that HTC Immediately provide an unlock for the Vivid’s bootloader and cease all future locking of bootloaders in compliance with their stated position.

Please don't make me return this device!
I will wait till I have 10 days to return the phone, then return it, because this is a very bad business practice.
Samsung may be getting a loyal customer again.
If you make a statement like the one about unlocked bootloaders you should stick to it.
If you want to change your mind you should make a NEW retraction statement.
Also you should unlock all devices released before the retraction.
Why do keypresses submit UI01 & unique keycodes?
Why is CIQ not opt-in and why is it so hard to fully remove?
Why does SMSNotify get called and show to be dispatching text messages to CIQ?
Why is my Browser data being read, especially HTTPs on my WiFi?
My family has HTC devices EXCLUSIVELY. I have the EVO 3D, my wife the EVO Shift, my son the EVO 4G. I've owned several HTC devices since the early Windows Mobile days.
You guys have seriously made me rethink my opinion of your devices going forward.
My next device (and my family's next) might just be a Galaxy Nexus.
Do the right thing htc and free them from the prision :D
I fight for the userz.
Better not pout,I'm telling you why: The Android community is coming for you.
Give the phone an unlocked bootloader.
Give ALL phones an unlocked bootloader.
Also don't want Carrier IQ active on my devices, legality questionable to have the capability built into a phone to do this without consent or court order.
If you value your customers and developers - the guys who give your people new ideas and software- then unlock NOW.

Call my bluff ATT
This problem is accentuated by HTC's blatant disregard for what their customers truly want. They release a statement promising to unlock bootloaders and then turn around and lock the bootloaders on their newest devices. I'm no expert, but I think that's called lying - and people have gone to jail for such a thing. Perhaps we should look into a class-action...
why drop the incite it is still a viable phone
