AT&T U-Verse Customer Service Stinks because employees do not speak English

I just got U-Verse installed in my home two weeks ago and my home phone has been out of service since then. When the tech came to install everthing they did not have an order to install my home phone and move my number over from SuddenLink. It has taken two weeks of me trying to get them to fix the problem.
and the problem is the employees on the other line who are suppose to help you can hardly speak English. In addition I couldn’t understand them. Yesterday I was on the line with customer service for over an hour and they transferred me four times before I talked to the right person and then I could hardly understand what he was saying. I had to repeat myself a couple of times. It’s ver frustrating. In between each person I was put on hold for a very long time with no music . So I wasn’t sure if I had lost them or not.

It does bother me that companies have shipped jobs overseas. However I know this is what a company has to do to survive. Plus you can’t fault the people on the other line as they need jobs too. I JUST WISH THEY COULD SPEAK ENGLISH BETTER AND UNDERSTAND BETTER. IN ADDITION THEY NEED TO RE-CHECK THEIR WORK TO MAKE SURE AN ORDER GETS IN.

I'm with you Marsha-but if a company like AT&T does most of it's business in the USA, and gets most of it's profit there, then they should have their customer service located in the USA.

Take a look at my employer DISH network. We are currently rated #1 in Customer Satisfaction by ACSI (2010-present) and I am typing from right here in Denver, Colorado.

They also need to learn the difference between tech support and sales. They always just want to sell you a package.

I am in vehement agreement with you! The exact same thing happened to my phone, so I scheduled their tech to come to my home to "fix" my phone, which was never fixed. After many back and forth weeks of this, I just got frustrated and cancelled the phone service! At that time I was told that I would be compensated for the time the phone was out of service.

Of course that did not happen. Called in to complain about it and was told that their techs said they repaired the phone and it was my word against theirs! I said, "if that's the case and it was repaired, why havent I used it in 3 months??? I KNOW you have a record of that!" With that complaint, they agreed to take 60 dollars off the 107-dollar bill they were asking me to pay for the time my phone was out of service and the "supervisor" told me the offer was going above and beyond what they had to do because I had no proof! Really?!?! Arrgh.
